Color Chart (Pantone / PMS)

This color chart is for reference only.
Pantone provides a universal language of color that enables color-critical decisions through every stage of the workflow for brands and manufacturers.

PANTONE has been the standard for color management for the printing industry since 1963 and has since expanded its line of products to supports all color conscious industries; textiles, apparel, beauty, interiors, architectural and industrial design, encompassing over 10,000 color standards across multiple materials including printing, textiles, plastics, pigments, and coatings.

And while it is not always possible to get an exact color match on different mediums, printing presses and manufacturing processes, Pantone swatch books and online references help people to know what to expect from their color choices.

The color of the final product may vary due to the difference in computer monitors,
the product material and the printing process. Below is a Pantone chart designed for offset printing and while some Pantone colors will look very different when printed on a digital press, it can still be a helpful guide to get started. We do have swatch books in our office for printing inks if you want to stop by to discuss you project.

We also have a swatch book that shows how Pantone colors will change when printed in CMYK color mode which is what the digital press uses. You can also see how the same ink will look very different on uncoated paper vs coated paper. While the difference is much less noticeable on digital printing than on offset printing, there is still a difference in color.

Pantone provides a very nice section on their website which explains the different systems. It is very educational and even has some great videos. Check it out here.

Although the resources on pantone.com and our chart below are ver helpful you are still only looking at a color simulation that is being projected by a light source in a RGB color mode. While digital printing uses reflected light in CMYK color mode and offset printing is also reflected light, the Pantone spot colors are mixed inks which are created according to Pantone formulas from a base of more than 30 mixing inks.
